The Lake
On our side of the lake our streets are so golden.
Not a mouth goes unfed,
not a thirst goes unquenched.
We hear stories about the other side,
but look out and say
"I can't see! It's too far!"
We turn and bury our heads in the sand.
On the other side of the lake the Devil's at work.
His crafty hands take life out of the land,
leaving a hollow shell of people and there hopeless hearts.
Empty, Broken, Hungry.
The people are told of a hope just across the water.
A hope of life and of abundance.
They are told "The promise land is near! Hold fast!"
But they look out and say "I can't see! It's too far!"
A simple lake allows children to die and proud men to live,
but to throw a bone across the lake is just too much to give...
